Please note these guidelines BEFORE Submitting. Submissions that do not follow these guidelines will be rejected. Seriously. Also, please note that this is a general list - certain projects may have slightly different guidelines. Please pay attention to any additional notes further down this page.
*****IF YOU ARE UNDER 18, HAVE YOUR PARENTS SUBMIT FOR YOU.*****
- Real Name, Pen Name, Address and Phone number are *required* and must be included in the letter with your submission. (There's a spot for this. If you don't have it saved in your profile, please include it in the cover letter .)
- Also, include a third person bio in the letter as well. A list of publishing credits is *not* a bio, and it annoys me - this is your chance to let readers know you, a bibliography doesn't do that. (Also, a list of credits and nothing else REALLY PISSES ME OFF.) I reserve the right to edit any bio that I think is too long.
- Unless otherwise specified, pieces should be under 7500 words. Personally, I prefer shorter, but will consider anything in this range. Remember, the more space you take up in my mag/antho, the more you need to wow me.
- Rhyming poetry annoys me. A lot. If you're going to chance it anyway, it better be really good.
- No hard indents (hitting the tab key), extra lines between paragraphs, etc. If I have to fix a lot of formatting issues, I'm less likely to accept your story, no matter how good it is. I hate to have to bold this category, but every issue I spend hours fixing formatting issues. Don't. Just don't.
- I will never accept cover art ever. Don't try it. There is now a category for interior art for the mag. Remember that images will be reproduced in black and white.
- Pay attention to which category you're submitting to. The list grows and shrinks as projects open and close. If you submit to the wrong category, you risk your work not being accepted just because it doesn't fit with where you put it.
